Time to vote but for who?

Election time is near. How do I know? The ads tell me so. They are getting nastier and nastier. One ad shows an estranged mother discrediting her sexually abused daughter of not being worthy of a vote. Wow. Yep, it’s that time of the year when we vote like animals.
November 3rd, Americans of all animal persuasions will be going to the polls to vote—Elephant Americans and Donkey Americans—to elect midterm leadership at the Congressional and the state level. Why midterm? U.S. Presidents hold office for a 4-year term at a stretch. A “midterm” election is therefore defined as an election that takes two years after the Presidential election. The midterm elections happen across all states, and they are for offices other than that of the President or Vice President.
All sorts of political animals—Elephants and donkeys, and Sheep, will affect the balance of power of democracy, re-balancing power as they choose Congresspersons more closely aligned with the President’s agenda and future success that benefits their needs. I reality, the midterms are a reflection of the leadership at the top. This political menagerie of voters includes sheep who generally fall in line as sheep commonly do. People referred to as sheep is nothing new. God in His Old and New Testament word calls His people sheep.
God says: “We are his people, the sheep of his pasture…” Psalm 100.3
God says: “I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” John 10:14
God says: “We all, like sheep, have gone astray…” Isaiah 53.6
Why sheep? Because sheep are gullible, vulnerable, and prone to wonder. So, their leadership is no light matter. Consider the man I heard of who was stopped by police. The driver had a sheep sitting in the front seat. “What are you doing with that sheep? You should take it to the zoo,” the officer ordered. The following week, the same policeman saw the same man with the same sheep again in the front seat, but this time, both of them were wearing sunglasses. The policeman pulled him over. “I thought I told you to take that sheep to the zoo?” The man replied, “I did. We had such a goodtime, we’re going to the beach this time.”
Who was leading whom? You laugh. But consider this: it just might be that it is human beings, more than the sheep, who need a shepherd.
Go to the polls if you haven’t already. Do your important civic duty. Cast your political vote. But consider this also: you are more than a political being. You are not, first and foremost, flesh and blood human beings with a spirit, but rather a spirit with flesh and blood. How do I know? Because the Bible tells me so, that you are made in the image of God according to Genesis 1; and God is Spirit according to John 4. Therefore, you are, first and foremost, a spirit being—a soul.
So, who is leading your soul is the critical this midterm, the next Presidential election 2028, and all the other days of your life?
I am not here to influence your political vote. But I am here on behalf of a candidate who offers leadership of your essential, eternal self—your soul. My candidate comes with the endorsements of kings like King David who supports a write-in Candidate, written in Psalm 23: The Lord as Shepherd. David was in a crisis of confidence, fleeing from his sword-wielding, vengeful son. The King needed leadership for his wearied soul. We see in Psalm 23, David’s endorsement of this Shepherd who has a six-plank proven platform I call Project 23—Lordship Leadership for Valley Times.
No matter what happens on November 3rd on the national and state political stage to determine the democratic course of the next two years, the time is now to pick a proven leadership for your eternal citizenship of a kingdom that has no end.
Let’s listen to David’s nominating speech of the Lord of Project 23—Lordship Leadership for Valley Times. This is, in a way, God’s campaign ad:
1The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside still waters;
3 He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me down the path of righteousness for his namesake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no danger,
For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, the comfort me.
5 Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
Thou anointeth my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of Lord forever.
First, Lordship leadership is based on an unconditional covenant rooted in love. To David, it was personal. When it came to David and God, their relationship lacked nothing.
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. v.1
David understood we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting. And His faithfulness is to all generations according to Psalm 100.
With political leadership, there will always be conditions. “You do this for me; I’ll do this for you.” The political landscape is littered with broken promises. In one breath, they proclaim, “No new taxes. With the next breath, “Tax the rich; tax the poor; let’s not forget about the man in the middle. Tax him, too.
But with Lordship leadership for the soul, the Psalmist proclaims, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Delight like Micah delights in 6:8: “Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.”
Vote for the Lord as Shepherd in 2026. Your soul will not want, nor be disappointed.
Second, Lordship leadership is a peaceful, refreshing care for the soul.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside still waters…v. 2
With political leadership, there is always unrest and division. No yard sign is safe. No name calling is off limits.
With Lordship leadership, your soul exists in community with your neighbor’s soul; where there is no blue state against red state, no right vs. left, but only what’s right vs. wrong in how you treat your neighbor. In Lordship leadership, peace is not a promise. It is a real resting place for the soul.
Vote for the Lord as Shepherd in 2026. Your soul will find calmer waters.
Third, Lordship leadership is a restorative leadership. God guides you down a path to regain what sin has stolen from you—rightness with God.
3 He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me down the path of righteousness for his namesake.
With political leadership, justice is often measured in dollars and cents. The more money you have, the more mercy you receive. You can shoot a one-year-old to death and walk away with your job and badge without judgment.
But with Lordship leadership, Calvary is the path to forgiveness. Christ is name above all names, that with that name, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess because Christ who knew no sin, was made our sins so you will be right with God. In Lordship leadership, your soul needs no stay of execution. Christ is your pardon over the worst thing you have ever done.
Fourth, Lordship leadership as is a very present comfort in valley times because of who walks with you.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no danger. For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, the comfort me.
With political leadership, allies today can be enemies tomorrow. They traffic in fear. You can never be sure who’s with you when you need them the most.
But with Lordship leadership, it’s comforting to know when we walk through valleys: that doctor’s diagnosis are shadows; relationship heartbreaks are shadows; those love one’s funerals are only shadows. They are real but are not victorious over your soul because you do no walk alone. You have nothing to fear. Shadows lose their power in the presence of light. And the Lord is your light and your salvation, whom shall or what shall be fear?
Vote Lordship Leadership up and down the ballot in 2026. Your will soul find mountaintop victories because you have a valley alley.
The Fifth plank of Project 23 is this: Lordship leadership is servant leadership where God serves as a gracious host. As Host, God is strategic. He serves up just what you need, when we need it, in just the right amount you need it, and often beyond your needs.
5 Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Thou anointeth my head with oil; my cup runneth over. v.5
With political leadership, “What is in it for me?” is too often the underlining question in an overarching quest for power and position—in a word—it’s self-serving.
But with Lordship leadership, the overwhelming question of God is: May I serve you My supper—the Lord’s Supper? The bread and wine are a reminder of Christ’s victory over sin. Satan has an unobstructed view. Believers have the Holy Spirit as a special guest. An abundant life is on the menu. It’s a more than an all-you-can-eat table for your soul.
Vote Lordship Leadership in 2026. Your soul will have a seat at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, treated to an unmatched meal—salvation.
Finally, the sixth plank of Project 23 is certainty. The Lord’s leadership platform is to bring blessings that are secure.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of Lord forever. V. 6
With political leadership, too often, expectations don’t match reality. Promises-kept are short-lived and unreliable, leaving the question: “What’s next?”
But with Lord leadership, what follows are benefits with certainty. What’s next for the beaten down soul is good fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. And what is given to you is expected of you to give to others. Everyone benefits. This fruit comes with no expiration date—all the days of your life. It’s good and sure.
And since all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, every weary soul will be certain of mercy—not getting what you deserve. What you do get is the security that your will not be homeless. The Lord’s house is your house.
Vote Lordship Leadership in 2026.Your soul will have a blessed assurance that is certain and secure.
So, there you have it—the six planks of the Project 23 Lordship Leadership platform, endorsed by King David who cast his vote for the Lord as the Shepherd of his soul.
